//(En)framing: A Workshop on Reprography - 2024
[This workshop was part of a series of artist-led medium workshops held at Kiran Nadar Museum of Art.]
This workshop utilized reprography as a creative methodology to explore the social world through existing images. Reprography involves reproducing documents and images using various techniques such as photography, scanning, Xeroxing, and screen capturing. It is commonly employed in settings like museums, forums, and archives. By focusing on the ubiquitous images of history and everyday life, this workshop aimed to create an experimental framework for reinterpreting these visuals and the narratives they hold.
Participants were encouraged to revisit significant political moments by reframing and re-clicking images, specifically examining the often unfocused, mundane, overlooked, and peripheral elements. This approach challenged preconceived notions and inspired critical thinking. Through the use of reprography as a tool to dissect images, the workshop created a discursive environment that promoted a deeper understanding of the ethics of reprography, the politics of images, visuality, and sensibility, and how these factors shape and construct our reality.
